About "Conspiracy Theater:"
This draft report, written by investigative journalist Denise McVea in 2022, details some of the callous and illegal tactics used by city employees, contractors, and "investors" to steal real estate property from poor citizens in rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods in San Antonio., Texas. It gives chilling context to UT Law School's 2021 Ousted report, which exposed the city's summary evictions of hundreds of families in poor neighborhoods and the mass demolitions of more than 1000 homes.

A Brief Note from Executive Director Denise McVea
Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your continued support as we continue to work to rebuild the Auris Project after years of sustained assault. The link to the left will give you a brief introduction to a small portion of the organized white collar crime that has plagued my beloved city for decades.
Since we began exposing the criminal schemes and public corruption preying on marginalized communities in San Antonio, I have been falsely arrested three times, maliciously prosecuted twice, assaulted, defamed, and left to fend for myself by virtually every protective institution paid for by taxpayers. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets, funds, and opportunities have been stolen, and even my homestead continues to weather crippling attacks.
However, I have also completed intensive research for my true crime book, run for office, made significant advancements in building an innovative publishing enterprise, and accepted a scholarship to attend law school.
I am happy to report that the city's sprawling criminal conspiracies are fraying rapidly, and I am confident that those responsible will eventually be held accountable. We are still standing, and as committed as we've ever been.

But we remain under attack. We have a lot of work to do and we have to do it in a hostile and violent environment with no protection from police, local government, or the courts. Please check back periodically for updates as we rebuild and repair.
La lucha continua,
